12 Challenges in 12 Months

Well its been a busy start to the year for myself and challenges. I have decided as I am fit,healthy and able. I am going to do a personal challenge every month. Lined up I have 10k’s , a half marathon and some x country extreme events one of which I and Jo McLardy participated in during February at Catton Hall. 49 Obstacles over under or through consisting of electric fences, a lake to cross, mudslides, and x country horse eventing jumps, not forgetting scramble nets over a 10k distance. It was an absolute hoot ! I howled laughing all the way around. I will definitely be looking for another and considering the Tough Mudder in July. In March I participated in the Fradley 10k as part of my challenge and I am still considering April . May is the Lichfield Half Marathon and June will be the Sutton Fun Run 12k. The list will go on until next feb and I will be offering some ‘free tuition’ to assist with my training. Keep on track with Skype and Face Time Personal Training sessions.  Wherever you are in the globe  I can keep in touch with you at all times, keeping you motivated and working out together with me or one of my online trainers.

Skype can be used for your group training session or 1 to 1. A great way of breaking down the frequent time barriers to fitness. You will be supported all the way to your goals at times that suit your busy lifestyle, just dip out of work onto skype for your session. A fab tool for reps with just small hotel space. All you need is your laptop or ipad, even an iphone, a skype account which is free and you are on your way!

You can even take me to your gym via the ipad or phone and using Face Time to look at gym equipment at your health club  a programme can be planned for you to follow, that is specific to your goals. The possibilities for training on line are endless.

Its often said by clients that they wish they could take their personal trainer everywhere to watch them well now you can! Beware of my fridge spot checks!!

New SoSpa fitness venture.
I was recently approached by Whittington cricket club to see if I would put some fitness classes on in their newly built club.
It has a great hall and floor for workouts and changing facilities. Sending flyers out I received a great response and ran a survey with locals to see what types if classes they wanted to see on the timetable . Yoga, was a huge request and fat loss classes for the New Year.
Recruiting excellent staff to work in the Sospa team.
Lee Roberts and I have put together an excellent start up program of classes .
Yogailates which is a fusion of yoga and Pilates exercises ,
Gforce 10 a Hi / lo intensity circuit / drill style workout great as fat burn program .
Old Skool conditioning – a lo aerobic and toning workout set to 70/80 and 90 tunes.
Pump Uncut: A motivational free weight exercise body sculpting and fat burning workout to music.

In the new year I will be launching So Lean and Clean LIVE 21 . This will be a bookings only fat 21 day intensive fitness and fat loss group with 6 classes a week for 3 weeks specially designed for shifting the fat and getting awesome fitness results . Access to an online community support network will be included for £127.00 for 21 days . A one off post Christmas fat loss event.

Yes on our fitness and fun breaks you can have a drink !!

Love, Love, Love SoSpa fitness breaks. This one was a bespoke package one on one with Julie Hines for 14 days, yes!! 14 days of workouts and dancing pm because that is what Julie wants.
The breaks are all about YOU.

A typical day would be to wake and go and do a circuit (all outside as we want to absorb the wonderful atmosphere of Lindos). Followed by a swim cool down in the tranquil waters of St Pauls. The water in October is a wonderful 32 degrees temperature and this time we had extraordinary weather for Rhodes as it entered into the 30’s.
After workout and having worked up an appetite it was down to the local village cafe for a tasty greek salad and spinach and bacon omelette as we like to eat clean.
Hitting the beach around midday for a sunbathe and catch up on relaxation time.

Julie has bags of energy and about an hour in is twitching for the next workout so its a water based fitness maybe a plyo circuit or with water weights. The sea bed is completely flat on Lindos main beach and can walk out quite far until the water reaches the waist height. It creates excellent workouts to change the body shape. Its fun and cooling – a welcome break from lying down at this point.

We then go and see the guys on the beach bar for some chat and find out the local news , where the best entertainment is going to be for the evening and a drink of something refreshing and back for some R n R on the bed!

Late afternoon is a final workout for the day and we enjoyed going out for an hour and exploring the caves around the bay an simply feeling the freedom of being in the open sea. All these are Julie’s choices that she makes before we go out to Rhodes and there are many options of what exercise can be done. I enjoy Yoga at sunrise or sunset .

Evening is a local taverna, I never do fully inclusive hotel food because there is such a lovely variety of restaurants in Lindos and the welcome and hospitality from the owners make an evening perfect.
We are often invited to dine with the locals on fresh from the boat to the plate fish and really experience the true Greek way of living.

We returned,jeans hanging as always and complete, Mission accomplished – straight home to book for next years Fourth SoSpa holiday !

Take Care of Your Liver

Our world is loaded with hidden chemicals and poisons, but when it comes to fighting off your body’s toxic burden, you’ve got a dynamic machine— specifically, your liver.

Your liver is the like the “most valuable player” when it comes to keeping you healthy and slim. It controls the levels of various chemicals in your body, cleans poisons and toxins out of your system, and helps regulate the amount of fats in your body by producing bile, which digests the fats you eat.
Many people ignore this key organ by doing and eating things that cause it to work less efficiently, or even to break down. With a little daily maintenance, you can keep your liver running in tip-top shape — and help it help you to lose weight and get healthier.

Here’s what you need to do on a daily basis:
Twice a day, just before a meal, drink a cup of warm water with the juice of half a fresh lemon. This lemon water water is known to aid in bile formation, resulting in more efficient fat metabolism.
Eat protein every day, preferably at every meal. The liver needs the amino acids from protein to produce bile and make all the enzymes used in detoxification.
Eggs are a great source of protein, plus they have the added bene?t of being naturally rich in lecithin, a substance your liver needs to produce bile. Get essential fatty acids daily, especially omegas-3s, from walnuts, flaxseed and/or salmon, fish-oil supplements, or cod-liver oil.
Essential minerals such as copper, magnesium, and zinc play an im­portant role in liver detoxification, along with vitamin C, most of the B vitamins, folic acid, and flavonoids (found in richly colored vegetables such as sweet red peppers).
Your body is like a car. In order to keep it running, you need to put high-quality gas in the fuel tank, investigate when you hear something strange clanking under the hood, and do everything you can to keep it running in optimum condition.

You shouldn’t be treating your car better than you treat your body! Your liver processes every single toxin that passes through your body, it deserves some nurturing .
